This has worked great for me. It can be used for thin as well as thick meats to check temperature. As far as accuracy, heck held it by my house thermostat and was within a fraction of a decimal point just at room temperature. Basically it nicely covers a large range unlike some older post and dial style which by the way I still have. My wife and I both use this and love it.
