These wide wheels aren’t just for show, either. Not only do they house and protect a 1,000 W motor, they are also part of the “self-balancing” nature of the scooter. With battery weight solidly under the wheel axles and a large contact area, the scooter is essentially self-leveling and requires no support. Push it sideways and it works like a Weeble – it wobbles but doesn’t fall off.

Our Smart Electric Skateboard has a top speed of 43 km/h, which is definitely faster than any other electric scooter. Braking is accomplished by disc brakes at the front and regenerative braking at the rear. Our Smart Electric Skateboard weighs 90 lb (41 kg) and can support up to 250 lb (113 kg). It’s also pretty maneuverable for such a big-looking scooter, with a turning radius of 94 inches (238 cm).

At 58 inches (147 cm) high and 20 inches (51 cm) wide, the scooter stands 43 inches (109 cm) tall, but the handlebars can only be folded to a height of 17 inches (43 cm). The handlebar has a rotating throttle, brake lever, horn button, LED battery indicator, on/off switch and key lock. All cables run through the handlebar tube for a clean exterior.

What it lacks in portability, it makes up for in speed. The scooter can reach an impressive 30 mph, which doesn’t make it the fastest electric two-wheeler on the market, but it certainly beats any Bird or Lime scooter by a long shot. The maximum power of the motor is 1,000 W, and the lithium-ion battery can be fully charged in four hours.

There are four driving modes: Glitch, Eco, Sport, and X. (While it’s fun on the surface, the limp mode is something that will protect the driver if something goes wrong. Other modes are user selectable.)
